For all the Thorntonites out there, I have uploaded my recently acquired 1962 AG Thornton Ltd catalogue (9.6 MB PDF) and price list (1.7 MB PDF) to the Internet Archive. The price list came loose inside the catalogue and is dated February 1962.
According to the introductory text, Thornton had almost completely overhauled their drawing instrument range since the previous catalogue of summer 1961, with just four sets from the old range remaining on page 10. For those interested in slide rules, 1962 also saw the introduction of Thornton’s “new plastic double face type PIC slide rules” range (bizarrely only one of which actually used the second face for scales).
This catalogue joins my 1967 and 1970 copies (pictured in the main image) to round out the decade. Now I just need to find the 1961 catalogue to complete the picture of their journey through what proved to be an eventful few years for the longstanding firm.
